Brokeback Mountain Review

Wanna know what my 4 favorite movies I have listed on my Letterboxd currently? Brokeback Mountain, My Own Private Idaho, Shame, and The Long Goodbye. The first three share the same tragic theme to them – and then there’s gender envy from Phillip Marlowe just being a cool guy.
Those movies quite sum up a little part of my identity, to be honest. What? How? The experience of being a gay man with a sexual addiction and dreams of being a cool male P.I.? Well.. no… It turns out, after all these years, my taste in movies have not changed despite myself growing and evolving by the minute.
So, the more depressing the movie is – the better. Underdogs as main characters? Yes, please. You see, I’m a defender of the underdogs, most probably (definitely) because I am one myself. And I’m proud of it because it’s my story, just as important as any others. More on that on other posts, I think.
But for now – Jack & Ennis 4eva. My reactions during this movie were not normal. I wish I recorded myself. Favorite moment of the movie.
P.S. Movies about gays just do it better, I think. I couldn’t recover after watching Portrait of a Lady on Fire and I don’t think I will ever recover after having watched Brokeback Mountain.
Seen on March 1st 2024 on Prime.
